Rollers near the bottom of the door aren't too bad, but rollers on sections held under spring tension are a different story - the door has to come apart safely first. We don't recommend DIY on any roller above waist height unless you've released the spring tension properly.
They can. A door dragging through a worn or grooved track makes the opener pull harder on every cycle, which shortens the life of the motor and gears. Fixing the rollers early is usually cheaper than fixing rollers and an opener later.
